Zasp

Don't misunderstand. I'm not doing this only for Mothiva. ...Although it's a pretty big reason.

Zasp is a Wasp in the Ant Kingdom. He is one of the few Wasps to be accepted into the Ant Kingdom as an explorer. He's unaligned with the Wasp Kingdom, instead loyal to Mothiva, forming Team Mothiva with her.

Appearance

Zasp is a tall and slender wasp with crooked antennae. He has a crimson red head, chest and abdomen, and a brown torso and under abdomen, unlike most wasps, who have yellow and brown coloring. His upper legs are also red and on his back are brown wings. In between his legs, he sports a pink ribbon presumably made by Mothiva. His arms, feet, mouth and stinger are all tan. Over his eye is a scar he obtained from unknown means.

In official artwork, Zasp is shown with more dark brown stripes on his body that end at a sharp point. Other details include scars on his torso, his wings being transparent, his stinger being silver, dark brown "sleeves" around his forearms, and similar colors on his waist.

In the non-canonical Version 0.4.1 demo, Zasp shows a thin physique with orange eyes, greyish red hair, and a scar on his right eye. His ear appears to be pierced and showcases a flesh tunnel. He sports brown pants and a red and brown hoodie with a beige shirt that appears to be fully buttoned with the exception of the last two, and a tie. Both are shown billowing due to a lack of an undershirt.

As the quest giver of "Lost Item", Zasp covers himself with a cloak to prevent Team Snakemouth from recognizing him.

Personality

Zasp starts off rude, often insulting Team Snakemouth during their encounters with him. However, after being rescued from the Ahoneynation in the Honey Factory, he lightens up gaining respect for them, often helping the team out when Mothiva isn't nearby.

Zasp is obsessed with Mothiva, following her everywhere and doing everything she tells him to.

Trivia

The Zasp battle in Paper Bugs Demo. His only attack is throwing electric needles.

Zasp is the only wasp to appear in the demo. He also appears in the v0.1 demo as one of the few characters there, as a secret boss.
Zasp was the third fight in the theater side quest in the demo instead of the burglar. He also was fought alone, while in the full game he fights alongside Mothiva in both of their boss fights.
According to Futes, his and Mothiva's designer, the two are in a relationship.^[1]
In the demo V0.4 version, Leif's spy on Zasp was "We don't really know who you are, Zasp. Unlike Vi and Kabbu, we don't really care for you at all. That's why we will freeze you without hesitation!"
In the text file of H.B.'s lab, there is an unused B.O.S.S. option for the third fight with Zasp and Mothiva. This implies that Zasp and Mothiva were supposed to have three fights over the course of the game instead of two.
Zasp was originally going to have lightning powers and was supposed to hide them^[2] up until Team Mothiva's fight in Chapter 6^[3]
- This is why Zasp's needles cause numb in the 0.1 demo. ^[4]
- Zasp's name originates from Zasp's scrapped lightning magic, being a portmanteau of "zap" and "wasp." ^[5]
