General Guidelines

  • Use the Source Editor when editing. The visual editor can mess up syntax, is difficult to use with templates, and does not show most types of infoboxes.
  • All speculation belongs on a page's discussion (talk) page or in a page's comment section.
  • Avoid using the second person point of view. When referring to the player character, use "Team Snakemouth" and "their" instead of "you" and "your".
  • Personal opinion should never be added to an article no matter how popular said opinion is.
  • Avoid creating names for unnamed locations or characters.
  • Capitalize the abbreviations HP, TP, MP, ATK, and DEF.
  • Always write in present tense. The only exception is when an event must be mentioned but occurred earlier in time relative to the current topic.
  • Use relative directions (up, down, left, right, above, below, in front, behind) instead of cardinal directions (North, South, East, West) when describing location relative to an individual room.

Formatting

Overlinking

Only the first instance of a topic in an article should be linked. An exception to this rule is when an article is not expected to be read as a whole, such as the large tables on the Items page.

Tables

A table's visual appearence should be kept consistent with the rest of the tables on the wiki with few exceptions. Use the source code below as a guideline.

{|class="article-table" width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="1" cellpadding="1"
|-

Structure

Neutrality

Articles should be written in formal, impersonal language. Do not use terms that imply uncertainty or subjectivity.

Examples of words to avoid:

  • "probably"
  • "clearly"
  • "really"/"very"
  • "fitting"
  • "possibly"

Redundancy

Avoid using the same words and phrases multiple times in a short period.

Trivia

Trivia can include information on the topic's development history, insights from the Developers learned outside of the game, or other such information. It should not include speculation, fan theories, or anything else unconfirmed. Always cite sources for trivia.
